Tram Ham in Thao Dien is the latest project by the Sawadeesign team, inspired by the very name of the restaurant chain – recreating an authentic, bold, and immersive mining space.
The structure features hand-crafted walls and façades made from volcanic stone, giving it a raw, solid, and rugged appearance. The entrance path is formed from repurposed railway tracks, laid beneath a large steel arch, evoking the feeling of descending underground.
Inside, the space is clearly zoned, with a central open kitchen serving as the focal point – allowing diners to observe the cooking process and enhancing their connection to the culinary experience.
Supporting areas such as the prep kitchen and restrooms draw inspiration from abandoned bunkers and mining control rooms, completing a cohesive spatial narrative rich in atmosphere and storytelling.
