This project marks Sawadeesign’s first commission in the Sultanate of Oman, representing the beginning of our design journey in the Middle East.
Located in Bawshar, within a vibrant mixed-use commercial complex near several universities, the café was envisioned as a contemporary gathering place for students, young professionals, and the local community.
The design concept is centered around a suspended sculptural installation inspired by the flowing curves of the Wahiba Sands, one of Oman’s most iconic natural landscapes. Beyond creating a striking visual identity, the installation also functions as a large shading screen, reducing glare and harsh sunlight while providing a subtle sense of privacy within the open café environment.
For the façade, we preserved the existing architectural envelope and introduced only essential brand identity elements. This approach demonstrates respect for the local context and cultural heritage while reflecting Fifty Five Coffee’s vision of embracing contemporary design without losing the traditional values of Oman.
